Overview
On November 1st, 2024, Google will no longer offer free unlimited storage to higher education. Yale will introduce quotas to align Yale's Google storage footprint with our contractual storage allotment. Beginning on September 30, 2024, the following Google storage quotas will be in effect:

September 30, 2024
Once the storage quotas are in place on September 30, 2024, individuals whose Google storage exceeds their quota will be prevented from saving additional data to Google Drive/Photos. EliApps Mail will not be impacted and will remain fully functional.
Individuals have the following options to reduce their Google storage footprint:
Brief extensions will be available on a case-by-case basis. Requests can be made via the ITS Help Desk
October 25, 2024
Google Accounts for individuals no longer with Yale and beyond their grace period will be deleted.
If you are currently accessing shared data from an individual who is no longer at Yale, please download a copy of any data that you need. Data contained in these Google accounts will be deleted and unrecoverable beginning on October 25, 2024.
November 1, 2024
Beginning November 1, 2024, individuals whose Google storage continues to exceed their quota will be prevented from accessing Google Drive/Photos data. EliApps Mail will not be impacted and will remain fully functional.
Individuals will need to contact ITS Help Desk to request a brief extension to reestablish access to reduce their Google storage.
