Google's recent policy update, which discontinues the provision of free unlimited storage for higher education, has necessitated a shift in our approach at Yale. In response, we are introducing a storage quota to manage the unchecked expansion in storage usage that typically occurs when there are no defined limits. This proactive measure is particularly important now that Google has begun charging for storage. See our Collaboration Counts site for details of upcoming changes.
If you run out of space, your Gmail usage will not be affected; but, while attempting to upload new files to Google Drive over the web, you will receive a Storage Full alert. You will also see Storage Full in your left-hand navigation bar.
Your use of Gmail will not be impacted, however, the following things will happen to your Google account:
