An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a 16-digit number and the associated record (sometimes called a profile) that stores links to a user’s research and links all their research with them. This ORCID allows an individual to tie their research to a unique identifier. An ORCID can be entered when prompted in systems and platforms, from grant applications to manuscript submissions, ensuring that credit is received for the researcher’s contributions.
Through the new ‘Link ORCID’ functionality within the NetID Management Tool (yale.edu/netid), users can now allow Yale to link or unlink the ORCID to a user’s NetID.
Features
- Users can now ‘link’ their ORCID to their NETID through the NetID Management Tool
- Users can also ‘unlink’ their ORCID from their NETID using the NetID Management Tool
- A new ORCID can be created during the process of linking a NetID to an ORCID
