Unlock the device in read/write mode
Unlocking the Secure USB device in read/write mode provided the ability to edit, add or delete files.
Steps:
- Connect your device
- Connect your device to your computer.
- Wait for the Unlocker window to appear.
- If the Unlocker window does not appear, you can start it manually:
- Windows:
- Double-click the Unlocker drive in "My Computer"
- Run unlocker.exe. (Older devices may have Ironkey.exe)
- macOS:
- Opening the Unlocker drive on the Desktop, or in a Finder window
- Run the Unlocker application. (Older devices may have just IronKey application).

- Enter Password
- Enter your device password and select Unlock. The Control Panel will open.
- Entering your password correctly will mount your secure volume and display all of your secure applications and files
- Entering the wrong password 10 consecutive times will trigger a Factory Reset of the device which will permanently erase all of the data
Unlock the device in read-only mode
Unlocking the Secure USB device in a read-only mode grants read only access to all files. Suggested use while accessing files on a "untrusted device."
Steps:
- Connect your device
- Connect your device to your computer.
- Wait for the Unlocker window to appear.
- If the Unlocker window does not appear, you can start it manually:

- Double-click the Unlocker drive in "My Computer".
- Run unlocker.exe. (Older devices may have Ironkey.exe).
- macOS
- Opening the Unlocker drive on the Desktop, or in a Finder window
- Run the Unlocker application. (Older devices may have just the IronKey application)
- Enable Read-Only Mode:
- Click the Read-Only Mode checkbox.
- Type your device password and select Unlock
- A message in the Control Panel that indicates you are in Read-Only Mode
- The device will remain in Read-Only Mode until you lock your device
- Note: Some features are not available in Read-Only Mode. Examples of unavailable features include reformatting, editing files on the Secure Files drive
