3-Way Conference Advanced Phone Features for Phones in Residence Halls

Consultation

Enables you to place the first caller on hold and consult with a second caller.

To Activate:

  1. With first party on the line, depress switchhook:
  2. You will hear 3 beeps.
  3. Dial the telephone number of the second party.
  4. You can then consult with the second party in private.
  5. When consultation is complete, consulted party hangs up
  6. You will be automatically connected to original party.

3-Way Conference

Allows you to establish a 3-party conference call (the other two parties may be inside or outside the Yale Telephone system).

To Activate:

  1. With first party on the line, depress switchhook.
  2. You will hear 3 beeps.
  3. Dial the telephone number of the third party.
  4. When the third party picks up, you can talk in private.
  5. When ready, depress switchhook again to let first party into conversation.
  6. All three telephones will be connected.

Call forwarding

Depending on the model of your phone and the system that your phone is configured on will determine what steps you need to take to enable call forwarding. (What is the model of my desk phone?)

Cisco, Nortel, and AVAYA Phones

Use the "Forward All" button on the display then dial the target number that you would like new calls to forward to. When dialing the full 10 digits you must first dial 91. (Example: 91203-432-9000). To disable forward please click "Forward Off".

Cortelco Phones (analog devices)

To Activate:

  1. Lift handset and depress # 1 (Note: If on Central Campus please depress **72)
  2. You will hear beeps.
  3. Dial phone number you wish to call forward to. 

(Note: If dialing full 10 digits you must first dial 9. (Example: 9203-432-9000)

To Deactivate:

  1. Lift handset and depress # 1  (Note: If on Central Campus please depress **73)
  2. Hang up.

Yale Link Lines

To Activate:

  1. Lift handset and depress *72 You will hear beeps.
  2. Dial phone number you wish to call forward to.
