Unified Messaging (UM) is commonly known as the voicemail-to-email feature. When the (UM) feature is enabled on a voice mailbox, the voicemail system will send an email containing the voicemail message as a .wav file to the email mailbox.
Essential points on Unified Messaging (UM)
- UM is only available to clients with Office 365 email and Cisco Unity voice mailbox.
- The feature allows for listening to voicemail messages remotely without dialing into the voice mailbox.
- The voicemail message continues to be saved in the voicemail box.
- Once the email is read, the voicemail will no longer be considered “new.”
- UM is not intended for a group voice mailbox, and emails cannot be sent to personal email addresses.
