Make a Call
- Lift handset or press the Speaker and wait for a dial tone
- Dial the telephone number you wish to call.
- If you have a display telephone, the number will appear on the display window.
Answer a Call
- Lift handset or press Speaker.
- Hang up the handset or press button to end conversation.
Call Transfer
- Allows you to transfer any internal or outside call to any extension within our telephone system
To Activate:
- With first party on the line
- Press Flash
- After hearing the special dial tone
- Dial the extension number
- When the third-party answers announce call
- Hang up (call is transferred automatically)
- If you receive no answer, busy signal or misdial
- Press Flash to be reconnected to party
Conference
- Allows you to establish a conference for up to 6 people including yourself. For Conference Calls with more than 6 parties call (43)2-9000.
To Activate:

- With first party on the line
- Press Flash
- After hearing the special dial tone
- Dial the second party
- Talk in private
- Continue until all parties are connected
- When you are ready to let first party into the conversation
- Press Flash again
- Speak to first party (all telephones are connected)
- If you received no answer, busy signal or misdial
- Press Flash to be reconnected to party.
Conference for YALELINK (764-xxxx)
- Allows you to establish a conference for up to 6 people including yourself. For Conference Calls with more than 6 parties: Call (43)2-9000.
To Activate:
- With first party on the line
- Press Flash
- After hearing the special dial tone
- Dial 115
- You will hear a second confirmation tone.
- Dial the second party.
- Talk in private.
- Continue until all parties are connected.
- When you are ready to let first party into the conversation,
- Press Flash again,
- Speak to first party (all telephones are connected).
- If you received no answer, busy signal or misdial,
- Press Flash to be reconnected to party.
Note: dial 115 only after depressing FLASH for the first time.
Consultation
- Allows you to consult in private with a third party either within or outside our system.
To Activate:
- With first party on the line
- Press Flash
- After hearing the special dial tone
- Dial the third party
- After speaking in private, when the third party hangs up you will be connected automatically to the original party
- If you receive no answer busy signal or misdial
- Press Flash to be reconnected to party
Mute
- Press Mute to speak without the person on the phone hearing your conversation.
- The Mute Indicator will light up and remain lighted until you resume your conversation.
- Also, MIC MUTED will show in the display.
To resume your conversation
- Press Mute.
- The Mute indicator will go out and your call can continue.
Hold
- Enables you to place caller on hold.
To Activate
- With caller on the line
- Press the Hold button.
- Hang up.
- The Hold indicator will light and remain lighted until you resume your conversation.
To Return to Holding Party
- Lift handset or press Speaker.
Ring Again
- Allows you to be automatically called back when a busy internal number becomes free.
To Activate
- Press Flash
- You should hear a special dial tone
- Dial 141
- You should hear the regular dial tone
- Hang up.
To Respond
- Hear short bursts of ringing.
- Lift handset (number is automatically dialed).
To Cancel
- Lift handset.
- Dial 142.
- You should hear the regular dial tone.
- Hang up.
Call Pick-Up
- Allows you to answer any ringing telephone in your call pick-up group. Call Pick-Up is an optional feature by request only.
To Activate
- Lift handset and dial 143.
- Announce yourself (you are automatically connected to the incoming call).
- If you hear a normal busy signal, the call has already been answered.
- If a fast-busy signal is heard, the ringing telephone is not in your call pick-up group, and you cannot answer the call.
Call Forward
- Automatically forwards calls made to your extension to another extension within your phone system.
To Activate:
- First obtain approval of party to whom you wish to forward your calls.
- Lift handset,
- Dial #1.
- After hearing regular dial tone, dial telephone number to which calls will be forwarded.
- Replace handset.
- Remember to cancel Call Forward when you return to your desk

- Lift handset,
- Dial #1,
- Replace handset.
Voice Mail
- Message Waiting Indicator
- When you have a voice mail message the Message indicator (red light on top of the telephone) will light

- or you will hear stutter dial tone when you lift the handset or press Speaker.
- When the phone is in use the Message indictor will be on continuously.
- Dial the Voice Mail Access Number
<< or >>
- Press the Voice Mail button to retrieve message(s) from Voice Mail.
- Once you have retrieved the voice mail message the Message indicator will go off.
- Program the Voicemail Button
- Press Menu until Voicemail Number appears.
- Enter the voice mail access number using the keypad.
- To delete a number or digit, press Review Down (large silver button).
- Press Menu to confirm selection.
Redial a Number
- To redial one of the last 10 numbers dialed, press REDIAL.
- The display will show the last number dialed.
- To scroll through the last 10 numbers, press REVIEW UP or REVIEW DOWN (large silver button).
Note that if HIDE REDIAL NUM was selected during setup only the first 8 digits of the number will be displayed. The entire number will be dialed out when REDIAL is pressed. - After the desired number is selected,
- Dial the number by pressing REDIAL again
- Lifting the handset, pressing Speaker or pressing DIAL.
- The selected number (32 digits maximum) will be redialed.
Adjust Volume
- Press the Volume Up or Volume Down button below the keypad to achieve different levels.
- The volume remains the same between calls. It does not return to a nominal level.
- Press the Volume Up or Volume Down button below the keypad to achieve different levels.
- Press Menu until Ringer Volume appears.
- The default setting is 3.
- To alter press, Review Up (large silver button) to play the levels.
- Press Menu to confirm selection.
Ringer Cadence
There are 10 ringer cadences.
- Press Menu until Ringer Cadence appears
- The default setting is 3
- To alter press, Review Up (large silver button) to play the levels
- Press Menu to confirm selection
Pause Button
The Pause button allows you to insert a 3.6-second pause in the dialing sequence.
- Press Pause button and release at any point where a pause is desired.
- The Pause button can be pressed more than once to create a longer pause.
Headset Instructions
The headset jacks are on the right side of the telephone
- This telephone will accept either a 2.5 mm cell phone-style headset or an RJ type headset.
- Use HEADSET to connect and disconnect from calls.
Contrast
There are 3 contrast levels.
- Contrast can be altered whether on hook or off hook by pressing CONTRAST.
Release Button
- To end a conversation, press the RELEASE button.
Automatic Memory
- Press SAVE, [SAVE TO?] appears on the display window.
- Press the desired memory location. (M1-M5 or SHIFT M1-M5).
- [ENTER NUMBER>] appears on the display.
- Enter the desired number using the keypad (maximum of 24 digits). Press SAVE to confirm.
- [ENTER NAME>] will appear. Type the name (16 characters max.) using the keypad. Use REVIEW UP to add a space. Use REVIEW DOWN (large silver button) to delete a character. Press SAVE again.
- [SET VIP RING] will appear. Use REVIEW UP and REVIEW DOWN (large silver button) to select the desired ring cadence. Press SAVE again.
- [MEMORY STORING] will show briefly.
- Press the desired memory location (M1-M5 or SHIFT M1-M5)
- The number will be displayed
- To dial the number, lift the handset, press Speaker or press DIAL
Caller ID and Display features
- Caller ID Functionality
- When the telephone is not in use and a new call is received, the display will show the NEW symbol, the phone number and the call time for about 4 minutes.
- The REPEAT symbol will appear if the call has come in more than once.
- After about 4 minutes with no activity, the display will default to the Stand-by screen and remain on until another call is received, or a button is pressed.
- No Data Sent
- [-NO DATA SENT-] will be displayed if there is no caller ID number sent from the telephone company.
- Private Calls
- If the caller has exercised the option to block his number, name or both from being sent, [PRIVATE NUMBER, PRIVATE NAME, OR PRIVATE CALLER] will display on the screen.
- Unknown Calls
- When the telephone company is unable to provide information of the caller's telephone number, name, or both, [UNKNOWN NUMBER, UNKNOWN NAME, UNKNOWN CALLER, OR UNAVAILABLE] will display on the screen.
- Delete an individual call
- Press DELETE. The display will show [DELETE? 1: YES 2: NO]
- Press 1 to confirm the deletion.
- Delete all calls
- Press and hold DELETE for more than 3 seconds.

- The display will show [DELETE ALL: 1: YES 2:NO]
- Press 1 to confirm the deletion.
- Storing a Number

- Press REVIEW UP OR REVIEW DOWN (large silver button) until the desired number is displayed. Press 5-7-10-11 until the number is in the correct format.
- Press SAVE.
- [SAVE TO?] appears on the display window.
- Press the desired memory location (M1-M5 or SHIFT M1-M5)
- Press SAVE to confirm.
- [ENTER NAME] will appear.
- Type the name (16 characters max.) using the keypad.
- Use REVIEW UP (large silver button) to add a space.
- Press SAVE again.
- [SET VIP RING] will appear.
- Use REVIEW UP AND REVIEW DOWN (large silver button) to select the desired ring cadence.

Change the Number of Digits Displayed
- Available display formats
- 5-digit: Last 5 digits of the telephone number
- 7-digit: 7-digit telephone number
- 10-digit: 3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone number.
- 11-digit: long distance code 1 + 3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone number.
- When a call is received, its 10-digit number is displayed.
- Press 5-7-10-11 to change to a 5-digit number
- Press 5-7-10-11 again to change to a 7-digit number
- Press 5-7-10-11 a third time to change to a 10-digit number
- Press 5-7-10-11 a fourth time to add the LDS code to the number (1+ 3-digit area code + 7-digit telephone number) and display 11 digits.
Directory
- Store up to 99 contacts
- Names are stored alphabetically starting with the first character.
- To sort the Directory by the last name, enter the last name first.
- Storing Entries
- Press SAVE to store a number in the Directory.

- After pressing SAVE, the display will show [Save To?].
- Press DIRECTORY.
- [Enter Number>] will appear in the display.
- Enter the desired number using the keypad. (max 24 digits).
- Press SAVE to confirm.
- [Enter Name] will appear.
- Type the name using the keypad.
- Press SAVE again to confirm all settings
- [Number Stored] will show briefly.
- If an incorrect letter is selected, press the REVIEW DOWN button (large silver button) and start over.
- All letters are upper case.
- To enter a space, press the REVIEW UP button (large silver button).
- Use the # key to edit entries.
- Finding Items
- Press DIRECTORY.

- The REVIEW UP and REVIEW DOWN (large silver button) will scroll through the directory.
- To leave the directory
- To search for a directory entry, press
- DIRECTORY.
- Then, using the keypad, type the desired name.
- Dialing Directory Numbers
- Once you find the desired directory entry

- Press DIAL to start dialing.
- Deleting Items
- Enter the directory

- Select the individual entry.
- Press DELETE once
- Press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel.
- Deleting All Entries
- Press DIRECTORY.

- Press and hold DELETE button.
- [DELETE ALL] will appear in the display.
- Select (1) for YES or (2) for NO.
- [NO RECORDS] appears in the display.
Standard Set Terminology
- Consultation
- This stores the first call and permits the use of that same line to make a second call.

- Consultation requires that you activate a feature within 15 seconds, otherwise you will receive a fast busy signal.
- Press Flash to reconnect the call.

- A busy signal twice as fast as a regular busy signal indicating a call cannot be completed.
- This occurs when the user mis-dials or tries to activate a feature not available on that telephone.
Power Failure Telephone: A charcoal gray standard set, which has access to an outside line, to be used only for essential communications during a prolonged power failure. This set has a yellow sticker on the front base that states: This telephone will provide dial tone during a telephone system power failure.
Special Dial Tone
- The standard dial tone with three short interruptions at the beginning.
- This is a confirmation that the system is ready to receive further instructions from the user.
