Resetting Your NetID Password through Self-Service


Overview

If you’ve forgotten your Yale password or would like to reset it, you can do so through the Yale NetID Management portal. This process ensures your account stays secure while restoring access to your email, VPN, and other Yale services.

When to Use

Steps to Reset Your NetID Password

  1. Go to yale.edu/netid and click the "Forgot NetID Password" option on the left side.
  2. Enter your NetID in lowercase letters and enter your recovery email (the non-Yale email address entered during your last activation).  
  3. Click "Continue". A NetID password reset email will be sent to your recovery email.
  4. Go to your recovery email account and locate the password reset email. Click on the "Reset NetID Password" button.
  5. Enter your NetID and create a new password.
  6. Click Reset Password.

Common Issues

You don’t receive the NetID password reset email.Check your spam folder or other email folders where inbox rules may be sorting the email incorrectly. 
You forgot your recovery email.A Lead Admin, Operations Manager, or another coworker may submit a NetID PIN Request Form on your behalf. Once the request is approved and the PIN is provided, you can re-activate your netID on yale.edu/netid.
You forgot your recovery email and are unable to contact a lead admin, operations manager, or coworkerContact the ITS Help Desk via Phone for further assistance. 
Receive an "A system error has occurred" error message.Contact the ITS Help Desk via Phone for further assistance.
