Cisco 9800 series: Quick Start Guide
Making Calls
- Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button
. - Dial the desired number using the keypad.
- Press the Call or Dial softkey on the screen.
Answering Calls
When prompted with an incoming call, do one of these actions to answer it:
- Select Answer to answer the call.
- Lift the phone handset to answer the call with the handset.
- Press Speakerphone
to answer a call with the phone speaker. - Press Headset
to answer a call with the connected headset.
Put a call on hold
- Select Hold or press
to put an active call on hold. During the hold you can make a new call to set up a conference call or transfer. - To resume a held call, select Resume or press
.
Transfer a call
When you transfer a call, you can wait until the other person to answer. This allows you to make sure that the other person is available to have a conversation with the caller before you remove yourself from the call.
- On an active call, press the More button (…) or press Transfer. You can also transfer a person who has been put on hold.
- Dial the phone number who you want to transfer the call (call reciever) or search for the contact.
- Talk to the call receiver, when answered.
- Press Transfer to complete the transfer. Before the receiver answers the call, you can also press Transfer and complete the transfer.
Forward calls
- Select Forward.
- If prompted, select a line where you want to turn on a call forwarding service.
- Select a call forwarding service:

- Forward all—Forwards all incoming calls to a destination number.
- Forward busy—Forwards an incoming call to a destination number when the line is busy.
- Forward no answer—Forwards an incoming call to a destination number when the call isn't picked up after a specified time period or after a specified number of rings.
- Enter the destination number, and press On to turn on the selected call forwarding service.
- Press Apply to apply the changes.
If you set the Forward all service, the icon Call forwarded icon
and the destination number displays near the line.
To turn off the call forwarding service, do the following:
- Locate and press Forward.
- Select the call forwarding service that you enabled.
- Press Off.
- Press Apply.
Access Voicemail messages
- Press Favorite the favorite key.

- Single line: If only voicemail is configured on the phone, your phone dials the voicemail number directly.
- Multiple lines: If only voicemail is configured on the phone, you will see a list in which the message count represents the number of new messages for the related line. In this situation, select a line to dial the voicemail number
- Follow the voice instructions to access your messages.
Add speed dials to a line key
You can add a speed-dial number on any idle line key on phone and on connected key expansion module. After you configure the speed dial, you can press the line key to call the speed dial number.
- Press any idle line key for at least two seconds.
- Enter the contact name and phone number.
- To switch between number and alphabet inputs, press 123 or ABC.
- Press Save.
Edit speed dials
- Press the line key configured with a speed dial for at least two seconds.
- Edit speed dial
- Update the speed dial with the desired information.
- Select Save.
Remove speed dials from your phone
- Press the line key configured with a speed dial for at least two seconds.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal when prompted.
