Microsoft 365: Clear the Microsoft Teams app cache to fix problems


Having a problem with the Teams app? Clearing the Teams app cache may help fix them.


Windows

  1. Fully close Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
    • Right click the Teams icon in your icon tray, then select Quit.
    • In Outlook, select the File menu and choose Exit.
  2. Hold Windows key and press R to open the Run box, then copy and paste the following into the Open field, and click OK: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe  
  3. Select all folders in the list, then right click and select Delete.
  4. You can now relaunch Microsoft Teams.

macOS

  1. Fully close Microsoft Teams.
    • Right click the Microsoft Teams icon in your dock, then click Quit.
  2. Open Finder, then click Go and select Go to Folder…
  3. Copy and paste the following into the Go to Folder box, then click Go: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft
  4. Right click the Teams folder, then click Move to Trash.
  5. Using Spotlight Search (accessed by clicking the magnifying glass on the macOS menu bar), enter the word Keychain and select Keychain Access.
  6. Within Keychain, search for Microsoft Teams to find the Microsoft Teams Identities Cache entry.  Right click this item and select the delete option, then close the Keychain Access app.
  7. You can now relaunch Microsoft Teams.
