Request a Zoom shared account for classrooms/events.
Zoom has approved using shared accounts specifically for use within classrooms, and where a team manages conferences and events. If you meet one of these use cases, you can request a shared Zoom account by following the steps below. View additional information specific to Zoom shared accounts.
- Log into https://sgi.its.yale.edu/sponsoredidentity/
- Click the Request menu and select Create SI
- Select the Type drop-down and choose Zoom Shared Account
- Enter appropriate information in all fields marked with an asterisk *
- End Date is not a required field, please enter an end date if you need this for a fixed period of time
- First Name & Last Name in combination determine the display name of your Zoom shared account. Examples:
- First Name: ITS Last Name: Town Hall
- First Name: Berkley Last Name: College Tea
- First Name: Mechanical Engineering Last Name: Conference
- First Name: Evans Hall Last Name: RM 4232
- Date of Birth: Enter ANY date of your choice. This date is strictly used for the NetID activation purpose. Please record the date as it will not be visible in the record. Use this value when activating the NetID in step 8.
- Business Reason a valid business reason (i.e. classroom or event/conference use only) must be provided.
- Choose a Sponsor Department
- Sponsor Name is not required, but it is good to enter one. If entered this person is linked to the SI record.
- Complete the request by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the form.
- Once submitted notifications are sent to the requestor and approver(s). The Tier 1 approvers are the Lead Administrator/Operations Manager of the sponsoring Supervisory Organization and Tier 2 is the Service owner group, FTS Collaboration Services. All requests require approval.
- Once the request is approved, the identity will be created and the requester will receive a notification when the identity is ready (typically within one business day of approval).
- The day after receiving the NetID you can request a PIN with which you can activate the NetID and set a password for it. NOTE: Only active Managerial and Professional, Clerical & Technical Staff or Contingent workers can generate a PIN request for themselves or on behalf of another user.
- Once the NetID has been activated you can use it to sign into Zoom at https://yale.zoom.us. Signing in will provision the new Zoom account automatically.
