Overview

Yale University Information Technology Services (ITS) recommends that everyone have at least two options set up for multifactor authentication (MFA); there is no limit to the number of eligible devices you may add to your MFA account. Bypass codes serve as an alternative authentication method when access to the other Eligible Devices & Authentication Methods is not available. 

When to Use

• You temporarily do not have access to your primary authentication device for DUO
• You will be traveling and need a backup authentication method for DUO

To obtain bypass codes

Please contact the ITS Help Desk at 203-432-9000. Once we verify your identity over the phone, we will be able to assist with your request. 

• You may request up to 10 codes.
• These codes:
  • Can be used as an alternative DUO authentication method.
  • Each code can only be used once. 
  • Each code has no expiration.
