When to request a Microsoft 365 shared mailbox?
Shared mailboxes are ideal for a group of people who need to monitor and send emails from a common email address. When a person in the group replies to a message sent to the shared mailbox, the email appears to be from the shared mailbox, not from the individual user.
How do I request a Microsoft 365 shared mailbox?
To request a shared mailbox, please submit the Request Shared Mailbox form. You will need the following information ready:
- Display Name: This is the name that will appear in the Outlook Global Address List
- Email Alias: The desired email address for the mailbox.
- List of Managers for the access DL (NetIDs): These people will be able to add or remove members from the Distribution Group that controls access to the account.
- List of Members for the access DL (NetIDs): These people will be able to log into the mailbox using their own credentials.
