Overview
If you’ve forgotten your Yale password or would like to reset it, you can do so through the Yale NetID Management portal. This process ensures your account stays secure while restoring access to your email, VPN, and other Yale services.
When to Use
- You’ve forgotten your Yale NetID password.
- You know your current NetID password but would like to change it.
Steps to Reset Your NetID Password
- Go to yale.edu/netid and click the "Forgot NetID Password" option on the left side.
- Enter your NetID in lowercase letters and enter your recovery email (the non-Yale email address entered during your last activation).
- Click "Continue". A NetID password reset email will be sent to your recovery email.
- Go to your recovery email account and locate the password reset email. Click on the "Reset NetID Password" button.
- Enter your NetID and create a new password.
- Click Reset Password.
Common Issues
| Issue | Resolution |
| You don’t receive the NetID password reset email. | Check your spam folder or other email folders where inbox rules may be sorting the email incorrectly. |
| You forgot your recovery email or no longer have access to the recovery email. | Contact the ITS Help Desk via Phone for further assistance. |
| Receive an "A system error has occurred" error message. | Contact the ITS Help Desk via Phone for further assistance. |
