How to set Duo Multifactor Authentication on a new phone with the same phone number
- Navigate to: https://mfa.its.yale.edu
- Enter your NetID & NetID password.
- In the Choose an authentication device field verify that the phone number you previously registered is selected and choose the Call Me option. You will receive a call at this number, answer it, and select 1 to authenticate.
Note: Push and passcode will not work from the new phone until you re-enroll the Duo Mobile app on the new phone. - Once you have approved the Call Me authentication, select the Device Options button that corresponds to your device that has your existing phone number.
- Identify the device with your existing phone number and click I have a new phone.
- Click Get Started.
- Click Call my phone.
- Enter the 6-digit code provided by the automated call.
- Click Verify.
- Depending on your backup settings, the Duo Mobile app may already be on your phone.
- If you already have Duo Mobile installed click on Next.
- If you do not have it installed, Click the link for Apple App Store or Google Play for instructions to install the app.
- Once you have completed the installation, Click Next.
- Open the: Duo Mobile app on your device.
- Tap the + button and click Use QR code to add the account.
- Scan the QR code on the screen to activate.
- Alternatively, click the Or, and have an activation link emailed to you instead. This will send you an activation link via email. Clicking the link will activate your account in the Duo mobile app.
- Enrollment Complete! Duo Mobile is now activated and you can receive PUSH notifications on your new device.
