Set up and connect to Yale VPN with your iOS devices
Configure your iOS device for Yale's VPN
- Download and install Cisco Secure Client from the App Store. Published by Cisco.
- Once installed, launch the Cisco Secure Client app. You may be prompted to allow AnyConnect to send you notifications. It is recommended to click Allow.
- Select Connections.
- Select Add New VPN Connection.
- Configure the settings:
- Description: Yale VPN
- Server Address: access.yale.edu
- Certificate: Automatic
- Select Save.
- If prompted with "AnyConnect" would like to Add VPN Configurations. Please select Allow.
- Depending on your phone's security settings, you may be prompted to enter your phone's passcode.
- Cisco Secure Client is now configured on your device.
Connect to Yale's VPN
- Tap the Secure Client app.
- Toggle the AnyConnect VPN switch to ON.
- You'll get a pop-up "AnyConnect wants to use "yale.edu" to sign in. Press Continue.
- Enter your Yale email to begin the sign-in.
- If you've previously signed into your email on your device, you will see your account available.
- When prompted, enter your NetID password.
- Verify your identity by selecting Approve with Duo Security. You will be redirected to a DUO page.
- Complete one of the available authentication methods previously set up with your DUO account.
- Ex. If you've set up the DUO mobile app, a push will be sent to your device to approve.
- If you've signed in previously with DUO on your device and confirmed that the device belongs to you, you will proceed to the next screen automatically.
- You will then be connected to the VPN.
- Disconnect from VPN when it is no longer required by toggling the Secure Client VPN switch to OFF.
